Tiger Private

Tiger Private is a sector of the Tiger Recruitment brand, who embrace innovation and creative thinking, which shines through their printed collateral.  Their goal is focused on matching exceptional staff to careers they will thrive in, all within the business support, private, hospitality sectors and many more.

Tiger Recruitment are a great example of a brand that has changed their branding identity based on each sector and grown alongside it. The contemporary approach with a geometric feel, teamed up with their various identifiable colours stands out from the competition amongst existing recruitment agencies.  They use vibrant colours to define each sector - just like the Absolute Creative Print purple - it’s a great way to get yourself noticed.  We have worked with them for many years, before the re-brand and after, and always love to see the new designs that come through to us.

The business, like many others, wanted to be mindful of their impact on the environment, so we printed everything onto a Conqueror Wove stock, a carbon-neutral paper made from 100% recycled content.

The brochures were printed litho with spot colours, with the inners printed in full colour.  The brochure was a bespoke size, with a die-cut pocket in the back to hold informative postcards.  However, we went with a different approach when it came to the binding process. Instead of being stapled like most brochures would be, these were stitched with thread - by hand! Stitching booklets with thread is often used throughout the print industry, however we opted for the hand-made option instead of using a machine.  The bookbinding machine we had access to only had the capability of taking a certain type of thread due to the thickness and density of the material - which only came in one colour, white - a thread colour that would not have worked for this due to the stitching being exposed along the spine.

Of course, the process was a lot longer than usual - with each brochure taking an average of 10 minutes to go from flat sheets to a final bound document. To compare, each book would usually take just under 2 minutes to complete so it shows the amount of care and time that went into each individual brochure.

Lead by one of our graphic designers, with a background in all things bookbinding from university, we took the time to carefully hand-punch each hole using a guided template, which was then collated with the inners, folded and clamped, ready to be stitched.

We used a simple five-hole pamphlet stitch, as there were only 2 sheets of inner pages (8 in total) to be held by the cover, so industrial strength stitching was not required for so few pages! Once stitched, the pocket was die-cut, scored, folded and glued in place for the postcards to sit in.  An additional two cuts were made in the front to allow for a business card to sit in.

All in all, the project took a little longer than our usual 3-5 working day turnaround, but as these were not required until the following year, we had plenty of time to get things underway!
