ARTWORK TIPS

HOW TO SUPPLY FILES

 

If your file is below 10MB, then you can send it straight to us via email. However, if you have larger files to send us, we recommend using WeTransfer to send these to us.

SEND FILES

We can accept all types of files, however to achieve the best print results, we recommend that you supply us one of the following types:

PDF FILES - The best way!

 

  • Saved as a high resolution file - 300dpi (dots per inch)
  • All colours  must be in CMYK - those in RGB will be converted to CMYK and you may notice a colour change in your final print.
  • All fonts to be embedded - especially if it's a free version downloaded online.
  • Crop & bleed marks applied if the background goes to the edge of the paper.

INDESIGN FILES

 

  • Please use the 'Package' function if you supply your files in InDesign. For more information on how to apply this, please see our "Adding Crop & Bleed" page above.
  • All colours  must be in CMYK - those in RGB will be converted to CMYK and you may notice a colour change in your final print.
  • All images included to be as high resolution as possible - 300dpi (dots per inch)
  • Please send us the entire contents of the folder that is produced from the 'Package' function. Without all the files, images and fonts may disappear from the work.
  • Attach a screenshot of the work alongside the packaged InDesign file so we can check that nothing is missing.

ILLUSTRATOR FILES

 

  • Outline all text using the Object > Expand option. This converts the text to a shape and embeds the font style into the file.
  • All colours  must be in CMYK - those in RGB will be converted to CMYK and you may notice a colour change in your final print.
  • All images included to be as high resolution as possible - 300dpi (dots per inch) and will need to be embedded into the file.
  • Save as either .ai or .eps.

PHOTOSHOP FILES

 

  • Set the file to 300dpi when starting the work. It can often set to 72dpi automatically, which is low resolution for print.
  • All colours  must be in CMYK - those in RGB will be converted to CMYK and you may notice a colour change in your final print.
  • All images included to be as high resolution as possible - 300dpi (dots per inch) and will need to be embedded into the file.
  • A minimum of a 3mm bleed needs to be added if the background goes to the edge of the paper. For more information on how to apply this, please see our "Adding Crop & Bleed" page above.
  • Save as either a .tiff or .jpeg.
